You need 100,000 washers, but the supplier quotes by the kilogram. How much should you order? The answer depends on the washer specification and its unit weight.
One formula
Estimated pieces/kg = 1,000 ÷ grams per washer.
Alternatively, divide 1,000 by the weight of 1,000 washers in kilograms. The numerical values for g/piece and kg/1,000 pieces are equal.
Reference weights and estimated counts
| Washer / nominal size | g/piece | kg/1,000 pieces | Approx. pieces/kg |
|---|---|---|---|
| DIN 125A M10 [1] | 3.57 | 3.57 | ≈280 |
| DIN 127B M10 [2] | 2.53 | 2.53 | ≈395 |
| DIN 6916 M20 [3] | 19.6 | 19.6 | ≈51 |
| ASTM F436 1/2 in, J.H. Botts AAW050 [4] | 8.75* | 8.75* | ≈114 |
These are catalogue reference weights, not weights prescribed by the standards or measurements of DJ WASHERS batches. Sizes are nominal designations. Counts use unrounded weights, then round to whole pieces. The examples use different sizes.
*F436 source: 1.93 lb/100 pieces × 453.59237 ÷ 100 = 8.754332741 g/piece, displayed as approximately 8.75. The source weight row does not specify Type or coating.
Three checks before ordering
- Confirm the full specification. M10 alone does not define outside diameter, thickness or unit weight.
- Use net weight. Bags, cartons and pallets are excluded from product weight.
- Agree on quantity acceptance. Dimensional tolerances, material, finish and actual batch weights affect estimates. For purchases by the piece, agree on the counting or measurement method and acceptance criteria.
Send your standard or drawing, dimensions, material, surface finish and quantity unit with your enquiry. Explore flat washers, spring lock washers or structural washers.
